Twitter Traffic-How I Got 10,000 Hits from Twitter in 1 Month!

I had no way of knowing what the results would be when I decided to try to use Twitter to drive traffic to my articles, blogs websites etc.

Here is what I did.

Built up my number of Twitter Followers. This is vital as the more followers you have, the more traffic you can generate. When I started, I had just over 1,000 followers, at the end of the month, I had 4,800! Next I hooked up with http://Twtr.us This is a fantastic utility that is worth its weight in gold, but is free. It shortens, cloaks and tracks your links by date, time of day, IP address, etc. It also saves the actual Tweets you used so that you can compare the responses you get with the wording you used.

I then made Twtr links for the items that I gave away or promoted. It makes the shortest URL's available. Once I put in a URL that was over a line and a half long, over 120 characters. It was reduced to a URL 16 characters long! I was careful not to just pound out affiliate links. If you do that you will find people un-following you.

I evaluated the responses to my various Tweets, eliminating those that did not get a good response and repeating those that did. It was really exciting being able to see in real time how many hits I got to my links. Sometimes I would have 5-6 hits even before I could get back to the Twtr site right after I posted the Tweet!

This is also a great way to evaluate headlines or text for bullet points. Launch them as a Tweet and track the response to them.
